South Africa’s Google search trends reveal people’s needs and wants

Coastal Property has long held its value and remained a desirable investment for both those who can, and those who can’t afford it. Property-owner aspirations have always equated seaside living with luxury. What is interesting is that while many of South Africa’s coastal property remain out of reach, not all of it is.

The Sibaya Coastal Precinct, situated between the Umhlanga and Umdloti estuaries in KZN, was designed to create a new kind of city, or precinct which maximises on its coastal positioning to offer a range of home types and prices. And the advent of the precinct and its grand plan is making valuable sea facing property more accessible. It’s not only the coastal location that makes buying here so attractive, it’s also the promise of things to come for South Africa’s best performing residential precinct.

Google Trends offers an honest glimpse into what is on the minds of South Africans. It’s not surprising that, of late, that schools reopening, corona virus and how to make alcohol have topped the list. But aside from the corona-centric Google searches, 2019’s data show us what it is that South Africans want in terms of nearby amenities, and with that perhaps a hint at the sort of lifestyle they crave.

Amongst the top ‘near me’ searches on Google for 2019 were:

  1. Parks near me
  2. Restaurants near me
  3. Petrol stations near me
  4. Hair salons near me
  5. Woolworths near me

People’s fingers really are telling us what it is they need and if it is a blended lifestyle they are after- one which fuses the must-haves and the nice-to-haves then the Sibaya Coastal Precinct and the very attractive interest rate may just be their ticket to this. Think about it as enhancing your lifestyle without over-capitalising and also enjoying the best of KZN’s North Coast without paying a premium and also unlocking ways to get your property to make money for you. We’ll tackle those topics in our next Insight article
